Tottenham fans gutted after another embarrassing defeat

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-18 side fell to a disappointing defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday, as they threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

Spurs’ youngsters have enjoyed an excellent season and went into the game with the Gunners unbeaten in 18 matches.

They quickly established a two-goal advantage through Paris Maghoma and a Harvey White penalty, but Luis Binks was sent off before half-time, allowing Arsenal to press home their one-man advantage in the second half.

Bukayo Saka pulled a goal back in the 85th minute before Brooklyn Lyons-Foster inadvertently turned home Saka’s cross to score an own goal and bring the hosts level with time still on the clock.

Ben Cottrell completed the comeback in injury-time, leaving Spurs empty-handed and extending the Gunners’ lead at the top of the U18 Premier League South to four points.

Spurs’ senior side, of course, fell to a late defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, and fans have expressed their disappointment at yet another late loss.

Celtic’s Ajer gets crucified for Norway performance

[ad_pod ]

Loads of fans have been running the rule over Kristoffer Ajer’s international performance this week, as the Celtic ace struggled in a draw against Sweden.

International breaks can be fairly tedious and typically provide nowhere near the entertainment on offer from club football, but Norway and Sweden played out an absolute thriller on Tuesday evening.

The Scandinavian rivals drew 3-3 in a Euro 2020 qualifier, and Ajer played 90 minutes in the heart of defence for the Norwegians.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

His side went two goals to the good thanks to strikes from Bjorn Johnsen and Josh King, but Viktor Claesson answered before Ajer gave away a clumsy penalty, which made it 2-2.

The Swedes then took the lead in stoppage time, only for Ola Kamara to level things up thanks to an assist from Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard.

There were plenty of talking points from the match, but few have drawn more attention than Ajer, who looked lost out there at times.

The 20 year-old has been fairly inconsistent for the Bhoys, showing glimpses of huge potential amidst occasional silly mistakes, and the Twitter reactions down below don’t make pretty reading…

Liverpool fans loved Fabinho’s performance against Bayern

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 success against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

Perhaps more was expected of Bayern in the second leg, but Liverpool deserve huge praise for winning in Germany to advance to the final eight of the competition.

Fabinho surprisingly started the clash on the bench, but was introduced in the 13th minute when Jordan Henderson pulled up with an ankle problem.

According to WhoScored, the Brazilian went on to make two tackles and won two aerial duels during his time on the field.

It would be fair to say that it took the midfielder a bit of time to settle at Liverpool following a move from Monaco in last summer’s transfer window.

Mo Salah has been brutally mocked for his recent diving antics in a new video by 442oons. Check it out below…

However, the 25-year-old has been a regular in recent weeks and the Merseyside outfit’s fans were delighted with his showing against the German champions.

West Brom supporters react to gaping hole left by Harvey Barnes

[ad_pod ]

Harvey Barnes may have been recalled from his loan spell with West Brom back in January, but a damning stat has been revealed that he’s still been the club’s most creative player three months on.

In a graph displaying the players who have created the highest proportion of high-quality shots for certain teams in the Championship this season, Barnes led the way for the Baggies on 16.451.

This stat has provoked a fair amount of response from the Hawthorns faithful who not only bemoaned the loss of the 21-year-old but picked up on the fact that other stars who have since been injured have also left a hole.

Matty Phillips’ and Kieran Gibbs’ presence was focused on by some fans, who said the former had a strong influence over the team.

Another supporter also claimed that once Barnes left, the formation should have been changed in order to counter his absence.

However, one individual thought that West Brom supporters had exaggerated his role, claiming the club were still consistent without him.

In 26 league games for the club, Barnes scored nine and assisted six goals.

Here’s the reaction from Twitter.

No thanks! Liverpool fans are against a move for Manchester United reject Memphis Depay

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they are against a move for Lyon forward Memphis Depay, formerly of the Reds’ arch-rivals Manchester United, after The Mirror linked them with a move for the £50m-rated attacker.

Depay joined United in 2015 from PSV Eindhoven for a fee in the region of £25m-£30m, but managed to score just seven goals in 53 appearances as he flopped miserably.

Mo Salah has been brutally mocked for his recent diving antics in a new video by 442oons. Check it out below…

The Holland international seemed to struggle with the physicality of the English game, and was shipped off to Lyon after just a season-and-a-half at Old Trafford.

Liverpool are in need of a forward to provide serious competition to Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, and Depay would seem like a decent option having scored eight goals and recorded 12 assists for Lyon this season.

However, his ties with bitter rivals United appear to have put some fans off the prospect of a move, with many not in favour of seeing the 25-year-old arrive at Anfield…

Liverpool: Klopp has set an example of how teams should spend in the transfer market

It’s safe to say Liverpool until recently haven’t had the best of transfer strategies.

For every Luis Suarez and James Milner that has succeeded at the club, there’s an Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing that has failed to make the grade and been a dark stain on the transfer history of Liverpool.

But since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Merseyside, the flow of bad transfers seems to have stopped for the most part. Out of the 13 players the German has brought to the club, none of them can really be labelled as total flops at the club.

FSG must be in awe of the genius transfer strategy that Jurgen Klopp has adopted as he’s saved them a lot of money by signing all the right players for low prices, and future sales could certainly make the club a healthy profit.

Although Ragnar Klavan and Lorius Karius have been infamous signings in the history of Liverpool, the duo still had good patches at their time at the club and contributed to the long-term success of where the Reds are now. The two players also cost the club a combined fee of £10 million, or about one-sixth of what Chelsea paid for Alvaro Morata.

Indeed, getting players for cheap is something Klopp and the transfer committee have been excellent at. Mohamed Salah signed for a reported fee of £34 million, whilst his wing partner Sadio Mane was signed for a similar price.

Andy Robertson, who was signed for just £10 million after Hull City were relegated down to the Championship, has developed into one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League and proven to be another transfer success story with Klopp.

Although some signings have been underwhelming so far, such as Naby Keita and Marko Grujic, these are players who will grow the longer the stay at the club and continue their development at Liverpool.

Klopp’s use of the transfer market and ability to spot cheap signings where other teams would not have is something that clubs in the Premier League should be adopting in their strategies for picking up players.

The German’s use of signing talent from relegated teams, in particular, is something that clubs have been undervaluing in this era of football transfers, but with the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and the aforementioned Robertson all coming in for cheap and making a considerable impact at Liverpool, this might be something that changes this summer.

The Most Devastating Attacking Trios In Europe Right Now

European football is home to some of the world’s most piercing and dangerous attacking-trios playing on the biggest stages the sport has to offer.

It’s the superstars everyone looks out for – from Kylian Mbappe to Lionel Messi to Neymar to Cristiano Ronaldo – if they’re firing then the fans are happy, and so are their teammates.

But what European team across the continent’s top five divisions can boast the most dangerous of attacking trios? We’ve compiled a list of Europe’s top 20 most dangerous goalscoring attacks right now, and you’ll be surprised at who’s there, who isn’t and the player that have contributed…

20. Lille OSC: Pépé – Bamba – Leão (40 goals)

Lille have shot up the Ligue 1 table in 2018-19 – they trail only Paris St.-Germain in second-place with eight matches remaining in the campaign – with much of the French side’s success due to their powerful attacking trio.

Led by Pepe’s 20 goals in all competitions, along with scoring contributions from Bamba and Leao (12 and 8 goals respectively), the club has gone from a 17th-place finish in 2017-18 to title challengers.

Pepe, Bamba and Leao have contributed 40 goals between them in all competitions this season.

19. Getafe: Mata – Molina – Rodriguez (40 goals)

The Azulones are making a strong push for a top-four finish in 2018-19, and the club has gotten there in large part from the contribution of their top-three attackers.

Spanish forward Mata leads the way with 15 goals to his name and Molina and Rodriguez trail close behind with 13 and 12 goals respectively. As a result, Getafe boast one of Europe’s most balanced attacking trios.

Of the club’s 66 goals in all competitions, this trio has scored 40 of them.

18. Olympique Lyon: Dembélé – Fekir – Traoré (42 goals)

Dembele has not disappointed since his summer Deadline Day transfer, tallying 18 goals for the French side in his debut Liue 1 season.

Fekir’s 12 goals from midfield and Traore’s 11 from wide have been crucial and Lyon now sit third in the league chasing Champions League qualification.

The trio’s 42 goals combined in all competitions places them among the top attacking fronts in France, as well as all of Europe.

17. RB Leipzig: Poulsen – Werner – Augustin (43 goals)

Leipzig’s trio have accounted for nearly half of all of the club’s goal this campaign and the club now sit 3rd in the Bundesliga as the season enters its final stretch.

Werner (17 goals) has continued to carry a heavy scoring burden for the German side while Poulsen (18) has emerged as a crucial complement in the attack this campaign. Augustin, meanwhile, has remained a consistent contributor tallying eight goals thus far.

With 43 goals between them, this trio has asserted itself among Germany’s best attacks.

16. Manchester United: Lukaku – Pogba – Rashford (44 goals)

United’s roller coaster 2018-19 season has transformed into a massive turnaround at Old Trafford, and with it have some stellar scoring numbers from the club’s biggest names.

After scoring a pair of spot kicks against West Ham, Pogba leads the way with 16 tallies while Lukaku trails just behind with 15 goals to his name. And Rashford, hampered by Jose Mourinho in the early stages of the campaign, has consistently shown his attacking quality since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, possessing 13 goals in 39 appearances.

Together the trio have amassed a combined 44 goals, about 52 percent of Manchester United’s total goals on the season, while presenting an always dangerous attacking threat to opposing defences.

15. Arsenal: Aubameyang – Lacazette – Mkhitaryan (44 goals)

The Gunners have worked their way into the top-four race during Unai Emery’s first season with the club, and the Spanish manager has his attackers to thank for it.

Aubameyang, appearing in his first full campaign with the club, has contributed 23 goals in all competitions while Lacazette has performed well in his role as the second striker, netting 15 goals of his own.

Mkhitaryan and his six goals makeup the final piece of an Arsenal attacking trio that has turned dangerous this year.

The 44 goals in all competitions scored by the trio of ranks them No. 4 among Premier League clubs.

14. Hoffenheim: Kramaric – Joelinton – Belfodil (45 goals)

Forced to assume a larger bulk of the scoring duties this season, Kramaric has been exceptional in 2018-19, scoring a club-leading 20 goals in all competitions.

Providing offensive support elsewhere have been forwards Belfodil (14 goals) and Joelinton (11), each playing in their first full seasons with the club and making a strong mark with their performances so far.

While Hoffenheim sit mid-table, it has been a successful season for this trio of attackers who have chipped in with 45 goals between them.

13. Atalanta: Zapáta – Ilicic – Gómez (45 goals)

Zapata sits third in Serie A’s Golden Boot race and his 25 goals in all competitions lead the way for the side from Northern Italy, who are currently challenging for European qualification.

Ilicic has contributed 11 goals while Gomez has added nine of his own, and together the trio combine to make up what has been one of the most prolific attacks in all of Italy this season.

Together, Zapata, Ilicic and Gomez have 45 goals in all competitions between them this term.

12. Juventus: Ronaldo – Dybala – Mandzukic (45 goals)

This trio has relied heavily on Ronaldo this campaign. The five-time Champions League winner has netted 26 goals so far this term, while leading Juventus to the top of Serie A and into the Champions League quarter-final in his first year with the club. Dybala and Mandzukic, unsurprisingly, have taken on reduced roles to make way for Ronaldo’s arrival, but have scored ten and nine goals, respectively, during this campaign.

As the 2018-19 season draws nearer and nearer to its close, this trio’s 45 goals have accounted for more than half of Juventus’ scoring in all competitions.

Summer exit: Toby Alderweireld’s cryptic message on future doesn’t bode well for Spurs fans

[ad_pod ]

Toby Alderweireld has addressed his future as the Belgium international prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

What’s the word, then?

Alderweireld told Sky Sports:

“There’s a lot to play for this season. And in the end I have a year contract left at Spurs, so I don’t look further than this season. Other things I don’t know. I am very happy at Spurs, so we will see what the future brings.

“I still feel very fit. I think I played a lot of minutes this season so I showed that I am fit – I don’t feel 30, I feel younger.

“So as I said, I am very happy and I just try to watch game-by-game. This season there is a lot to play for so I will give my best for that.”

The centre-back has a contract with Spurs until the end of the 2019-2020 campaign, but a £25m release clause comes into effect this summer.

And Manchester United have been strongly linked with the 30-year-old.

Alderweireld has only missed three Premier League games for Tottenham this season and the Spurs fans have recently called on the defender to pen a new contract.

The Belgian’s words on his future, however, will not exactly fill the supporters with confidence.

How will this one end?

Well, it seems very likely that Alderweireld will leave Tottenham this summer.

If that was not the case then you suspect that the former Atletico Madrid defender would have sent a clear message when addressed on the topic.

Instead, Alderweireld revealed that he would not be looking beyond the end of this season, which appears to be his last in a Tottenham shirt.

Pl>ymaker FC Exclusive: Jermaine Jenas reveals he would have snubbed Tottenham for Arsenal if they’d come knocking in 2005…

With Christian Eriksen also linked with a move away, it could be a tough window for a club who simply have to spend in the summer.

One of the best centre-backs in European football, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will feel the loss of the 88-cap international if he does indeed move on.
