The Manchester-born full-back – who also plays as a centre-back for England – has not been short of praise for his talents either, with The Athletic's Patrick Boyland claiming that he is "definitely one to watch."

Boyland continued: "He was best in his group with Emilio Lawrence, who left the club over summer. They did well to keep hold of ISS over summer, because there was plenty of interest.

"Versatile – also plays full back – so will be interesting to see where he ends up position-wise."

Whilst the Merseysiders have acquired the services of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Ruben Vinagre on the left flank since the departure of Lucas Digne, neither have seemingly convinced the Everton boss since his arrival in January, so it could be a great opportunity for Samuels-Smith to become Digne's true heir by working hard to earn a spot in the starting XI soon.

Sheikh Jassim will make his third bid for Manchester United on Friday and is confident of completing a takeover, Ben Jacobs reports.

What’s the latest Man United takeover news involving Jassim?

Jassim has been heavily linked with buying out the Glazers in recent months and has made two bids to take control of the Premier League giants so far.

The Qatar investors and Sir Jim Ratcliffe initially missed the deadline for second offers last month and required an extension in what was described as an incredible development. Jassim’s most recent offer was thought to be a world-record fee at more than £5bn, but another deadline has been set for this Friday for parties to make their final bids.

Jacobs provided an in-depth update on Twitter regarding the Red Devils takeover process, describing it as a “big week” at Old Trafford.

He said that “Jassim will bid again on Friday and remains confident”, whereas “sources close to Ratcliffe are a little more coy”, although “those close” to both have insisted they won’t bid recklessly. Jacobs added that “there is definitely still competitive tension between bidders”, with a full sale “more likely than a minority investor at this stage”.

Key week for Jassim and Man United?

Jassim is seemingly desperate to get going at Old Trafford and has already been making transfer plans to bolster Erik ten Hag’s squad.

A move for Borussia Dortmund and England international Jude Bellingham was previously mooted, with Jassim a “huge fan” of the midfielder. More recently, reports have suggested that the Red Devils are preparing to make a number of big-money signings under Jassim, with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar linked with a move to Manchester.

Jacobs has claimed that “the point of the third stage is to get a deal quite close to signing”, so it could be an extremely important few days in the takeover process, and by the looks of it, Jassim’s offer will be made in 48 hours time in an exciting update.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are confident that Bayern Munich won't prevent them from landing Julian Nagelsmann.

What's the latest on Julian Nagelsmann and Spurs?

Amid a calamitous few months for the north London outfit, Spurs have sacked Antonio Conte, then interim coach Cristian Stellini, and so will end the season with the caretaker's assistant now calling the shots.

Indeed, Ryan Mason will oversee the final four Premier League games for Tottenham from here on in, while Daniel Levy works behind the scenes to find a long-term replacement.

Nagelsmann appears to be an ideal candidate for the job but there have been some concerns in the media that Bayern Munich might make the deal complicated.

Indeed, as per journalist Christian Falk, the 35-year-old is still technically under contract with the German outfit until 2026, and so Bayern may demand a notable transfer fee to offload the head coach

However, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano insisted that Spurs are feeling confident this not being a problem.

He began by saying just how much Nagelsmann is wanted (0:49): “I can add today that Julian Nagelsmann is one of the top top top names in the list of Tottenham so they really want him and they are convinced that Nagelsmann is the perfect man to build something for the long term, to do something similar to what Erik ten Hag is doing this season at Manchester United."

He then added (2:18): “From what I understand also, Bayern are not going to be an issue in this story.

"So it's true that he's under contract with Bayern but Tottenham sources feel that it's not going to be a problem to find an agreement with Bayern.”

Are Bayern still paying Nagelsmann?

That's certainly good news for Spurs fans who want to see Nagelsmann arriving in north London this summer.

However, Romano doesn't say that Bayern will wave any transfer fee, so it's more likely that Spurs are just happy to pay whatever money has been demanded.

According to that report from Falk, Nagelsmann's wages will drop over the coming years if he remains at Bayern. Indeed, he explained: "He’s just allegedly going to get 80% of his €6.7m (£5.9m) salary from this July. From July 2024, it goes down to an estimated 65% and then 50% from July 2025.”

Despite that, Bayern obviously won't want to be paying so much money to a coach they no longer have any need for, so it would make sense for all parties to come to some sort of figure to let the 35-year-old join Tottenham.

And by the sounds of this latest report from Romano, that rough figure may already be known to Levy and co.

Amad Diallo, Jack Clarke, and Alex Pritchard all found the back of the net at Deepdale to land the three points and a sixth-placed finish in the league.

Tony Mowbray's talented attacking group have played some enjoyable football throughout the campaign and the contributions of the forwards have played a huge role in their success this season.

Amad has been on loan from Manchester United and caught the eye with a series of stunning performances – scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 37 Championship matches as an attacking midfielder.

However, the Ivory Coast international was not the true hero of Sunderland's play-off charge as one of his attacking counterparts enjoyed an arguably more influential season – Jack Clarke.

How did Jack Clarke perform this season?

The former Tottenham Hotspur winger was sensational out on the left flank throughout the year and led the play-off push with his ability to change and win matches with his quality on the ball.

Amad provided a huge goal threat but did not offer as much in the way of creativity for others and Clarke was able to combine both sides of the game to make himself a nightmare for opposition defences.

The English dynamo ended the regular season with nine goals and 11 assists across 45 games, having missed just one outing, and this means that he was directly involved in four more goals than the United loanee.

He also created a whopping 77 chances and seven 'big chances' throughout the campaign in comparison to Amad's 41 key passes and four 'big chances' created.

Clarke, who averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.00 in the second tier, was previously described by ex-Premier League forward Noel Whelan as "exciting" and "effortless" in the way he takes the ball past opposition players, which is backed up by his two completed dribbles per game this term – compared to his Ivorian teammate's 1.7.

These statistics illustrate the impact that the £15k-per-week winger had in Mowbray's team this season and highlights why he was the real hero of the play-off charge as no Black Cats player – including Amad – was involved in as many goals as the attacker and his thrilling play out wide has been a joy to watch over the last nine months.
