The 26-year-old, who bagged a sensational 15 goals and 14 assists in all competitions during his best season at Eintracht Frankfurt, was deemed one of the best versatile forwards available on the market (David Ornstein), so Spurs officials will have been very disappointed to miss out on his services.

Now, Postecoglou’s side have re-entered the market for another wide player, as they look to back their manager who’s been forced to cope with a serious injury crisis at N17 throughout the campaign.

Tottenham are believed to be the main contenders to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, but his English colleague Lyall Thomas has since reported that the 18-year-old will command a hefty £55 million transfer fee.

The price quoted for Dibling could be too much for Tottenham mid-season, but there is another potential loan option in the form of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

The Spain international spent 2023/2024 on loan at Brighton, where he scored four goals and bagged one assist in 30 total appearances, since returning to the Camp Nou and enduring a very mixed season.

Fati has suffered from a few injury problems this term, which have largely kept him out of Hansi Flick’s first-team, and he’s failed to make any real impact when available.

As per one Spanish media source, Tottenham could offer the £227,000-per-week attacker a route back to the Premier League.

Indeed, it is believed that Spurs have made a proposal to sign Fati on loan from Barcelona, which would include an option to buy. The Catalans could be tempted by this offer, as they actively seek to find the 22-year-old a new club.

However, Tottenham would need to take on a hefty portion of his wages, and Fati is apparently more in favour of remaining at his current club despite his squad status.

Nevertheless, Postecoglou’s men have apparently “set their sights” on signing Fati before the deadline.

It is the month of best-dressed occasions at some of the county’s game’s lovelier venues. Last week Lancashire’s players were at Sedbergh and York; this week Kent have played at Beckenham, and Hampshire have visited Newclose. And today Nottinghamshire arrived again at Grantham, a Lincolnshire idyll that neither power lines nor the dry, metallic roar of the A1 can disturb.But England bakes brown in the heat and the small world of English cricket burns with debate – even more heat than light, indeed. So perhaps Gorse Lane supplied precisely the balm that many of us were seeking, especially so given this was a Royal London Cup game that yielded 683 runs, two huge partnerships, three centurions and an outcome that was in doubt until the moment Haseeb Hameed swung a trifle desperately across the line at a ball from Toby Greatwood and edged a catch to James Cracknell.Until Hameed’s dismissal for 114, it had seemed possible that Nottinghamshire would be able to overhaul Middlesex’s 355, an effort that was illuminated by fine hundreds for Stephen Eskinazi and Sam Robson – Eskinazi third in a row which broke two world record in the process. Once their List A skipper was gone, however, all that remained was for the home side’s tail to be removed by Umesh Yadav with four for 54 and thus became one of the few bowlers who will look back with much pleasure on a pitch that always played much better than it occasionally suggested.But at least the conditions served up nearly eight hours entertainment for a crowd who have long known that bat and ball are their own music and that silence is to be treasured rather than feared. Not all venues and not all spectators have reached the same understanding this schizophrenic August but this was a home game for Nottinghamshire, a county which cares for its members and is guided by their experience. Other clubs view the people who have paid their annual fees for perhaps half a century as an unnecessary encumbrance. For what can loyalty and love matter when set against the building of hotels and the iron priority of profit, and then more profit until the reason for it is gone?Related

Such thoughts became increasingly distant on an afternoon when fine cricketers, some of them hardly well-known, pursued their trade at a club whose members had clearly planned for games like this for months. If the glare of the notebook’s white page hurt the eyes, it was the only pain any spectators suffered, for most had arrived with picnics and umbrellas and the gentle enthusiasm often shown by folk who have been doing this sort of thing for years.For a time, though, Nottinghamshire’s bowlers were not so charmed. The square apart, the Gorse Lane ground resembles nothing so much as a mammoth digestive biscuit and any grass left on the pitch this morning bound the surface together rather than offering quicker bowlers much hope. That, at any rate, was how it seemed for at least 35 overs of Middlesex’s innings as Eskinazi and Sam Robson put on 234 for their side’s second wicket and visiting supporters looked forward greedily to another hour of sun-saturated mayhem. It was a stand in which the bowlers’ every error was punished and on which the ball sped to the rope, as if unwilling to stay in contact with the hot field any longer than was necessary. There was a breeze but that only kept things merely sweltering rather than spontaneously combustible.Both Eskinazi and Robson learned their cricket in Australia. Temperatures in the high eighties do not trouble them and neither did any of Hameed’s bowlers, a matter which may have caused Nottinghamshire’s 50-over skipper to regret his decision to bowl first. Hameed may also have recognised that Eskinazi is in the form of his career and batsmen are loath to give it away in such circumstances. The Middlesex skipper pummelled the home attack though the covers and his only six, a pick-up over midwicket off Zak Chappell, was the shot of a day on which it had plenty of competition.It turned out that Eskinazi was in world-beating form. His 104-ball 135 gave him the highest ever aggregate in List A over three innings and following his 182 against Durham and 146 against Surrey, he is also the first cricketer to make at least 130 in three successive List A visits. Once he had gauged the pace of the pitch, Robson was not so far behind his partner and when the pair were bounding along at a minimum of seven runs an over, it seemed that the football pundit’s cliché that the score “could be anything” had some application to cricket. Such vulgar comparisons always worry cricket lovers, so perhaps it was propitious that once Robson had played on to Brett Hutton and Eskinazi had been bowled when trying to pull Dane Paterson, the game changed rather radically.Instead of regarding 400 as something of a minimum target, Middlesex lost their last nine wickets for 86 runs with all Hameed’s main bowlers enjoying some success and James Hayes, who bowls a lively medium pace, taking two wickets on his first-team debut. His initial taste of county cricket has once promised to be rather more bitter. The question now, though, was whether the pitch was as flat as Eskinazi and Robson had made it appear or as difficult for strokeplay as the later Middlesex batsmen had suggested.Nottinghamshire’s reply certainly revealed the perils of trying to score too quickly, too early on this Gorse Lane wicket. Both Sol Budinger and Dane Schadendorf fell in Yadav’s third over and it was left to Hameed and Slater to give their side a chance of victory with a stand of 191 in 29 overs. The pair matched each other run for run and it was pleasing to see that Hameed has now added some unorthodox strokes to his formidable conventional repertoire. That said, 50-over cricket may be the limit of his short-form ambitions. It is easier to imagine Nadine Dorries playing chess than Haseeb Hameed playing in the Vitality Blast.Slater’s 95-ball 90 was ended by Martin Andersson’s fine catch at deep square leg off Sam Robson, who then immediately had Matt Montgomery caught at the wicket for nought Fateh Singh’s 21-ball 45 revived home spectators but when he and Hameed were dismissed in the space of three overs, it was time to prepare to depart. Time also, to return to the real world in all its unreality.

Unai Emery said after the game that he believes his side was not strong enough and didn’t have fresh legs to change the outcome of the result. Emery said: “They were pushing and got into our box and scored one goal. We didn’t feel strong or the fresh legs to recover or dominate or try to score.

“We have circumstances like the injury of Tyrone Mings, and we don’t have another proper centre-back. We started the second part of the season with two wins and two draws. We are very ambitious, and we want more.

“We have to keep going and focus on Wednesday, recover some players, and try to use the last week in the transfer window. We have to get our performances quality. We want to play in Europe.”

As well as dropping two points, Villa was also dealt a blow as Tyrone Mings had to withdraw as he felt discomfort in his leg. However, the defender took to Instagram to give a positive update. He wrote: “I’ve had some serious knee injuries; this isn’t one of them.”

The 18-year-old, who currently plays for Rosenborg in Norway, has been catching the eye of several top European clubs for around 12 months now. The midfielder, who can also operate in a more advanced role, is out of contract at the end of this year, and a move to the Premier League looks like a real possibility.

As well as Villa making a move for Nypan, Arsenal and the City Group, with him joining Girona before Manchester City, have also made offers for the young star. Romano states that the decision is down to Nypan, and he will be visiting each club before making any decision.

David Warner’s return to the BBL for the first time since 2013 has been confirmed with a two-year deal for his original club Sydney Thunder.Late last month the reported that Warner was going to request permission to play in the new ILT20 league in the UAE rather than the BBL after the cancellation of the South Africa ODI series in January opened up space for Australia’s multi-format players.That put in motion a chain of events that played out swiftly, the outcome of which will see Warner return to the club where he has played two of the three BBL matches in his career. Wolverhampton Wanderers have picked up two wins and two clean sheets on the bounce in all competitions after a polished 2-0 win away over Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup.

The Championship hosts did have a goal dubiously ruled out for offside early on, but once the Old Gold took the lead courtesy of a Joao Gomes strike trickling in just after the half-an-hour mark, the victory ended up being rather routine to collect.

In fact, it would be only moments after Gomes’ opener that Wolves would have their game-clinching second, with Matheus Cunha showing off his Premier League class with an emphatic finish on another standout day at the office from the Brazilian.

From that point onwards, it was relatively straightforward for the top-flight outfit to secure their passage through to the next round of the esteemed competition, but Cunha would still be on the hunt for more goals.

Across the course of the 90 minutes, the ex-Atletico Madrid attacker would spurn two big chances as a constant livewire for his side, which included one fantastic solo run in the second half that was unfortunately not finished off.

But, nobody could take the priceless effort away from him come the full-time whistle, with Cunha also a brave battler for his team in a game that was played at a fast pace, resulting in an impressive nine ground duels being won.

Indeed, Blackburn did have brief moments in the contest where they could have gained a momentary foothold and mounted a comeback, only to be met by a stern Wolves defender standing firm time after time.

Looking at his numbers in depth from the win in Lancashire, it was an extremely well-rounded display from the defensive titan, with his ability on the ball there for all to see with his 93% pass accuracy and 100% successful dribble completion rate come full-time, on top of his hefty combined total of seven clearances, interceptions and tackles.

This isn’t a one-off from the 26-year-old either, with six duels also won last time out in the Premier League when Wolves picked up another 2-0 victory versus Aston Villa, before showing off his defensive prowess once more against the Riversiders. In fact, he’s been really rather good since Pereira came in with the defender keeping four clean sheets in a row since he was introduced into the starting lineup.

The £25k-per-week centre-back will hope he can keep his first-team spot as more and more league fixtures come his relegation-threatened side’s way this February, with this showing on the road against Blackburn more than helping his cause.

Since Pereira’s arrival into the building, the Portuguese manager has managed to strike a finer balance between exciting attacking displays and dogged defensive showings than his predecessor in Gary O’Neil, with Cunha still at the peak of his powers whilst stars at the back such as Gomes come to the surface.

Only time will tell if enough of these displays will keep Wolves up in the Premier League, with Pereira’s side needing all the luck they can get when travelling to table-topping Liverpool up next.

أصدرت شرطة ميرسيسايد بيانًا رسميًا فيما يخص حادث وقع خلال احتفالات فريق ليفربول، في شوارع المدينة، بعد التتويج الرسمي بلقب الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وحسم ليفربول لقب الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، موسم 2024/25، في وقت سابق من شهر أبريل الماضي.

وتسلم ليفربول، أمس، كأس الدوري الإنجليزي في مباراته الأخيرة من البطولة ضد كريستال بالاس على ملعب “الأنفيلد”.

وأقام ليفربول موكبًا في شوارع المدينة، يوم الإثنين، من أجل الاحتفال باللقب العشرين وسط جماهيره.

ووقع حادث مأساوي في مدينة ليفربول، خلال الاحتفالات، عندما اصطدمت سيارة بحشد من الناس، وسط حالة من الهلع بين المتواجدين.

وقالت الشرطة في بيان رسمي: “نتعامل حاليًا مع بلاغات عن حادث تصادم في مركز مدينة ليفربول، تم التواصل معنا بعد الساعة السادسة مساءً بقليل من يوم الاثنين 26 مايو، إثر ورود بلاغات عن اصطدام سيارة بعدد من المشاة في شارع ووتر، توقفت السيارة في مكان الحادث، وتم اعتقال رجل”.

من جانبه، قال رئيس الوزراء كير ستارمر عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع إكس:”المشاهد في ليفربول مروعة، أفكاري مع جميع المصابين أو المتضررين”.

وأضاف: “أود أن أشكر الشرطة وخدمات الطوارئ على استجابتهم السريعة والمستمرة لهذا الحادث المروع”.

وظهرت لقطات عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث اتضح من خلالها وجود سيارة داكنة اللون وهي تنحرف تجاه حشود من الناس، مما أدى إلى سقوط عدة أشخاص على الأرض، وسط هلع الحاضرين.

من جانبه، قال ليفربول في بيان رسمي: “نحن على تواصل مباشر مع شرطة ميرسيسايد بشأن الحادث الذي وقع في شارع ووتر قرب نهاية موكب الكأس مساء اليوم”.

وأضاف: “نتقدم بالعزاء والمواساة للمتضررين من هذا الحادث الخطير، سنواصل تقديم دعمنا الكامل لخدمات الطوارئ والسلطات المحلية التي تتعامل مع هذا الحادث”.
