A escalação titular do Corinthians contra o Botafogo-SP é: Cássio; João Pedro, João Victor, Raul Gustavo e Bruno Melo; Cantillo, Roni e Luan; Gustavo Mosquito, Róger Guedes e Adson.
Some goal celebrations are good. Take, for example, the classic knee slide, or ripping your shirt off. They aren’t anything special, perhaps even a bit overdone, but they get the job done.
Some, like the Griddy or sucking your thumb like a baby, are bad – no explanation needed.
Others are boring, like Alan Shearer’s trademark arm in the air, while some, like Indian footballer Peter Biaksangzuala’s failed somersault, are even fatal.

Some celebrations, however, are simply iconic. We’ve listed some of them below, complete with the story behind them.
1 Facundo Sava Argentinian striker-turned-masked crusader
Former Fulham striker Facundo Sava might not be best remembered for his goalscoring abilities – he managed just seven goals in 43 appearances for the Cottagers.
What he is remembered for, however, is how he celebrated those seven goals. After finding the net, the Argentinian striker would pull out a Zorro-like mask from his sock.
Apparently, it came from his time at Gimnasia, where fans would throw masks onto the pitch every time the team scored.
2 Jimmy Bullard Midfielder pays homage to half-time rollicking
On Boxing Day in 2008, Hull City were trailing Manchester City 4-0 at half-time when Tigers manager Phil Brown decided to keep his players out on the pitch at the break, sit them in a circle, and reprimand them in front of the crowd.
The following year, Hull travelled back to the Etihad Stadium, and when midfielder Jimmy Bullard scored a late equaliser for Brown’s side from the penalty spot, he decided to emulate his coach, sitting his teammates down in a circle around him and wagging his finger at them.
“He took it well,” Bullard said of Brown after the match.
3 Roger Milla Dancing at the corner flag
At the 1990 World Cup in Italy, Cameroon surprised everyone by making it to the quarter-finals, where they were eventually beaten by England.
The star of the tournament for the Indomitable Lions was striker Roger Milla, and not just because he scored four goals. After each of his strikes, the veteran forward, who was 38 at the time, ran to the corner flag and performed a little dance in front of the fans.
His celebration appears to be nothing more than an outpouring of joy, but it is clear that it helped him become a global superstar.
4 Mario Balotelli Italian unveils "Why Always Me?" message
During his first spell in England with Manchester City between 2010 and 2013, Mario Balotelli often made headlines, more often than not for the wrong reasons.
Among other things, he crashed his car, drove into a women’s prison in Italy to ‘have a look around’, and even threw a dart at a City youth player.
In response to those stories, after scoring against Manchester United in October 2011, Balotelli lifted his shirt to reveal an undershirt that simply read: “Why Always Me?”
The Italian striker’s critics at the time saw it as a boast, but Balotelli later told Time Magazine it was his way of saying: “Just leave me alone.”
5 Cristiano Ronaldo The "siuuu"
Cristiano Ronaldo’s “SIUUU” celebration has arguably become the most iconic in football history.
For those that have been living under a rock for the last decade, the celebration involves Ronaldo running to the sidelines, jumping in the air, and landing with his hands down by his sides as he screams “SIUUU”.
But what does it actually mean? According to Ronaldo himself, who first performed the celebration in 2013 during his time at Real Madrid, the noise derives from sí, the Spanish word for yes.
“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration,” he once explained in an interview. “I just scored the goal, and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest. Since that, I started to do it more often.”
6 Wayne Rooney Dealing a knockout blow
Wayne Rooney never had a trademark celebration like his former Manchester United teammate Ronaldo.
Over the years, however, he did perform his fair share of memorable one-offs, including a cartwheel after netting for England against Scotland, and standing with his arms wide as he was mobbed by his United teammates after scoring perhaps the greatest overhead kick in Premier League history.
One of his most famous celebrations came in 2015, when after scoring for United in a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, he ran to the corner flag and showed off his shadow-boxing skills – a reference to a video that had recently emerged of Rooney getting knocked out by former United teammate Phil Bardsley during a friendly sparring session.
Peter Drury's best commentary moments – ranked
Peter Drury has settled in as the voice of Premier League football on Sky Sports. Here’s a look at his moments behind the mic.
ByAlex Caple Dec 24, 2023 7 Cole Palmer "Cold" Palmer lives up to his name
Chelsea star Cole Palmer
A new addition to the iconic celebrations club, Cole Palmer has celebrated most of his impressive 32 goals for Chelsea since moving to Stamford Bridge last summer by rubbing his arms as if he’s cold.
The celebration is a nod to Palmer’s nickname among his Chelsea teammates – “Cold” Palmer – which was given to him because of his cool demeanour on the pitch.
He wasn’t the first to do the celebration, however. It was former Manchester City academy teammate Morgan Rogers who first did so after scoring in a game for Middlesbrough last year.
8 Diego Maradona Delirium overshadows star at World Cup
Diego Maradona’s goal celebration after scoring for Argentina against Greece at the 1994 World Cup is iconic for the wrong reasons.
After netting the third of his side’s four goals, Maradona ran to the side of the pitch and screamed into a television camera with his eyes bulging wide. The celebration raised suspicion that the forward, who had previously been banned from football for taking cocaine, was again under the influence.
Those suspicions proved to be true, as just days later, a drug test revealed he had been taking illegal stimulant ephedrine. He was subsequently kicked out of the World Cup and never played for Argentina again.
9 Peter Crouch The robot
Peter Crouch excelled at two things during his playing days: towering above defenders to score goals with his head, and dancing like an awkward, lanky robot when he did.
The former Liverpool and Stoke City star first busted out the celebration, which he claimed was invented during a party at David Beckham’s house, during England’s 6-0 friendly win over Jamaica ahead of the 2006 World Cup.
It was so loved, that he continued to do it for the rest of his career, including after he netted his 100th Premier League goal against Everton in February 2017.
10 Robbie Keane Somersaults and guns
When former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United striker Robbie Keane used to find the net – something he did almost 400 times in his career – he’d celebrate in an extremely unique way, performing a cartwheel followed by a forward roll and some gun fingers.
Explaining the origins of the celebration during an appearance on Monday Night Football a couple of years back, the Republic of Ireland legend said it came from his childhood.
“The celebration was something I used to do as a kid,” Keane said. “Then when it came to playing football one of my mates said, ‘you have to do that if you ever make it,’ so that’s where that came from.”
Ben McDermott will open in place of the rested David Warner while Australia will need to be wary of Wanindu Hasaranga

Big PictureAustralia take the field for the first time as the men’s T20 World Cup champions…and only have nine months until they need to fight to keep it. Such is the cricket calendar in the era of playing Covid catch-up that this is the beginning of the next build-up.However, if things go to plan it should not be the most taxing of preparations for Australia (we’ll leave aside for a moment the recent loss of a head coach). It will be in home conditions and there is unlikely to be much turnover in personnel from the side that won in the UAE.Two of the key figures from the previous World Cup – David Warner and Mitchell Marsh – have been rested for this series against Sri Lanka which gives the chance to have a look at two fresh faces in the top order: a recall for Ben McDermott to open the batting after an outstanding BBL and a debut for Josh Inglis at No. 3. Inglis, though, won’t take the gloves with Matthew Wade staying in that role at No. 7. With no Marsh, Aaron Finch will need to find four overs between Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis (unless Steven Smith turns his arm over). They are facing a Sri Lanka side that is in the process of rebuilding (isn’t it ever thus?) but showed some promising signs in the UAE even though they could not get out of the group stage and will again have to go through the qualifying section of the World Cup in October. In Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka they have two exciting young batters who are starting to bed in at the top of the order and legspinning allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga has a formidable record with the ball. He took 2 for 22 against Australia in Dubai and could be a trump card against a side that can still struggle against wrist spin.Sri Lanka have won more T20I matches than they have lost in Australia (5-4) but those four defeats have come in their most recent outings including a 3-0 whitewash in 2019.Josh Inglis will make his T20I debut•Getty Images
In the spotlightJosh Hazlewood is back in Australia colours for the first time since the opening Ashes Test when he suffered a side strain that would end his series. Last year was a breakout one for him in T20 cricket and he was a central part of the World Cup triumph where he both used his Test-match skills of hitting a hard length but also showed the variations he has been working on.Dinesh Chandimal is the most experienced player in the Sri Lanka squad but his T20I record remains modest with an average of 19.79 and strike-rate of 104.51 and he was dropped during last year’s World Cup. However, in the recent Lanka Premier League he flourished in the finisher role for Colombo Stars with 277 runs at a strike-rate of 150.54. Now his challenge is to try and bring the same freedom to the top level.Team newsAaron Finch confirmed his XI on Thursday. The bigger problem may be the weather with a high chance of showers during the day and some thunderstorms.Stats and trivia Wanindu Hasaranga was the joint-leading wicket-taker in T20Is last year with 36 at 11.63 The SCG has the second-highest economy rate of grounds to have hosted more than a single men’s T20I. At 8.53 it is marginally behind Hobart on 8.75 This match will be the first time that Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood have played in a home T20I togetherQuotes”The first series after the World Cup win…so it’s really exciting to have a lot of new guys around the side as well and I guess quite a bit of pressure on after winning the World Cup. It does raise expectation. But we feel as though we’ve played some really good T20 cricket recently, so we’re excited about that.” Aaron Finch“It’s always tough playing in these conditions but we have players who are in good rhythm and were doing really well during the last few months. These five matches will definitely help us with the preparation for the World Cup.”

Arsenal thought they were back in the groove. The Gunners had dispatched the likes of West Ham, Sporting and Manchester United since the last international break of the year but fell short when they travelled to Fulham.
We know the Premier League isn’t easy. The way Mikel Arteta’s men have relentlessly attempted to chase down Manchester City is a testament to that.
Well, they are ahead of City this time around but the trouble is, Arsenal still only sit in third place.
Chelsea leapfrogged them courtesy of a remarkable 4-2 win over Spurs and even though Liverpool didn’t play due to adverse weather conditions, the gap between them and Arteta’s side is still six points.
So, where’s it all gone wrong so far this season? Well, three red cards certainly haven’t helped. Neither did skipper Martin Odegaard’s 12-game absence due to an ankle injury.
The bottom line, however, is that Arsenal simply haven’t been good enough for long periods of time. A lot of that can be owed to an underperforming attack.
Arsenal's underperforming attackers
Let’s get this out of the way first. When at their best, Arteta’s forward line is one of the very best in Europe. Bukayo Saka – the division’s top assister – has proven he is now one of the finest wingers on the continent and coupled with Odegaard, Arsenal have created perhaps their most dynamic duo since the days of Thierry Henry and Robert Pires.
Alas, it is the players on the opposite flank who have often let the club down in crucial moments this season.
Leandro Trossard may have found a degree of form in recent weeks, scoring against Sporting and West Ham nine days ago. Yet, there was that foolish red card at the Etihad and it was his misplaced pass that ultimately led to William Saliba’s sending off against Bournemouth.
The Belgian may have finished as the club’s second-top scorer last term on 17 goals but he simply hasn’t been at the races this term, registering just four goals in 20 games.
Gabriel Martinelli has not fared much better and his piece of play deep in the game at Craven Cottage as Arsenal drew 1-1 typified his season.
The Brazilian did incredibly well to cut inside and curl a tantalising ball to the back post where Saka headed home. It looked like Arsenal had a late winner. But wait…what’s this? It’s the dreaded VAR.
It was a “criminal” mistake in the words of Paul Merson, as Martinelli strayed offside and ruined Arsenal’s chances of narrowing the gap at the top to four points.
That being said, some of the blame should lie at the feet of another Brazilian; Gabriel Jesus.
Why it's time for Gabriel Jesus to go
Over the summer, the club finally decided to part ways with Eddie Nketiah. He had become the third choice option behind Jesus and surprisingly, Kai Havertz.
It was predominantly the German’s form as a centre-forward that provoked that sale and since then he scored four goals in his first seven league matches of 2024/25.
While the goals haven’t been quite as forthcoming in the Premier League since, he still brings a great deal to the attack with his pressing and hold up play.
Unfortunately, like Nketiah, Jesus does not offer much at all. He has scored just one league goal in 2024 to date and ruined his chance to rescue things for Arteta on Sunday afternoon.
Truth be told, it was a rough old day for Havertz who didn’t have a single shot on target in the clash. Change was needed and the more dynamic and tricky Jesus was a wise option to call upon.
His cameo was rather dire, though. The former Man City striker registered a truly awful pass success rate of 17% after he left the field and also messed up a goalscoring opportunity in bizarre fashion.

The ball was lifted over the Fulham defence by Declan Rice and the 27-year-old had an ideal opportunity to tuck the ball away when one-on-one with Bernd Leno. Except Jesus didn’t actually make contact with the ball. He paused, seemingly unsure as to whether the ball would come to him and rather than being gifted with a simple chance it fell straight into Leno’s arms.
That lack of confidence, that lack of conviction typified his sorry calendar year. Perhaps rather harshly, Arsenal reporter Connor Humm noted that the £45m signing “doesn’t look like he could score in League 2.” It does feel like that at times, it must be said.
Gabriel Jesus (centre) could have won the game for Arsenal
Truth be told, Jesus’ decline has been particularly sad. Yes, the Brazil international has struggled with injuries over the last 18 months or so but let us remember the immediate impact he made at the Emirates.
After signing from title rivals City in the summer of 2022, he scored five goals in his first eight league outings. That form has never been replicated since.
Unfortunately, it feels as though this could be the beginning of the end of Jesus’ time in an Arsenal shirt. They will undoubtedly recruit a new forward in 2025 and as a result, someone will have to be shipped on. He is now a prime candidate.

Despite Ben Duckett coming close to twin tons, Nottinghamshire were below par, particularly with the ball

An unbeaten half-century by world No. 1 Test batsman Marnus Labuschagne guided Glamorgan to a seven-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire in the LV= Insurance County Championship, ending their first visit to Trent Bridge for a red-ball match since 2007 with a first win on the ground since 1998.Chasing 166 to win in the fourth innings after taking Nottinghamshire’s final two second-innings wickets inside the first hour of play, Glamorgan wrapped up a 23-points win before tea on the final afternoon.Australia’s Labuschagne, in his first game back with the Welsh county after successful summers in 2019 and 2021, was dropped on 25, although it is doubtful that the miss had any bearing on the outcome of the match. It is a sobering result for Nottinghamshire, a popular tip to be Division Two champions this season. Ben Duckett came close to scoring a century in each innings but it was generally a below-par performance by the home side, particularly with the ball.James Pattinson, in his first match back at Trent Bridge, was outbowled by fellow Aussies Michael Neser and Michael Hogan, while the Australia-born Netherlands seamer Timm van der Gugten made an outstanding contribution both with bat and ball.Nottinghamshire added 18 runs to their overnight lead of 147 before Glamorgan removed their last two wickets. Brett Hutton shouldered arms to the ball that bowled him, one of three dismissals in the match where the batter offered no shot. Joey Evison made a creditable 37 before gloving a legside catch to wicketkeeper Chris Cooke as he went to pull James Weighell.Evison batted with a runner and was unable to bowl as Glamorgan set about their chase, one in which Nottinghamshire needed a salvo of early wickets if they were to create any real pressure for the batters on a wicket that had lasted well.None was forthcoming, openers David Lloyd and Andrew Salter rattling along at four runs an over before the latter departed in the 14th, the home side’s ambitions not helped by Pattinson conceding 22 in three overs.Salter was lbw as left-arm spinner Liam Patterson-White managed to squeeze the ball past his inside edge. There was a second setback for Glamorgan in the last over before lunch when Lloyd was also out to a ball he chose to leave, Dane Paterson bringing one back to clip off stump.Paterson and Patterson-White applied a squeeze after lunch. That changed when Labuschagne lofted the left-arm spinner for six over long-off and Sam Northeast crashed four through the covers but when Northeast took on a short ball from Pattinson in the next over, he was caught at long-leg by Paterson, who struggled to track the flight of the ball against the glare of the sky before landing on his back with ball in hand.Northeast’s dismissal took one of Glamorgan’s potential match-winners out of the equation but others remained, not least Labuschagne, who had a let-off behind the stumps on 25 when Tom Moores dived across first slip but could not cling on to an edge off Paterson’s bowling.Labuschagne completed his half-century, a relatively workmanlike affair, when he cut Pattinson for just his third four, before Kiran Carlson, who made 47 in a stand worth 74, completed the victory with a flourish, handing Pattinson the indignity of being hooked for six to win the contest with 39 overs to spare.
