Given that his release clause will reportedly sit at just £10m for clubs outside of Italy, the Argentine would certainly fall into the aforementioned shrewd business category that Villa should be looking towards.

It's not just Unai Emery's attack that the Villans are looking to improve, either, with those at Villa Park also looking towards defensive options to add the depth needed to compete on the European stage next season. According to CalcioMercato, Aston Villa are now in advanced negotiations with Mario Hermoso's agent over a summer move, after reports previously suggested that they were in pole position to sign the centre-back.

A signing that is at the specific request of Emery, Villa would be getting themselves a bargain deal, with Hermoso set to be a free agent at the end of the season as his Atletico Madrid contract expires. This means that if Villa can fend off the interest of AC Milan, they will sign a Champions League-level defender without spending a single penny on transfer fees.

There's no doubt that Hermoso would slot straight into Emery's side, too.

Estão previstas oito rodadas do Campeonato Brasileiro e um jogo da Copa do Brasil neste intervalo, no qual os atletas do Brasil, Uruguai e Chile podem ficar longe do Flamengo enquanto as respectivas seleções avançarem.

O torneio de futebol nas Olimpíadas de Tóquio têm início e final previstos para 23 de julho e 8 de agosto. That extends to all domestic competitions, opening up the possibility for Turner to play in the Blast.Worcestershire came within one dot ball of becoming the first team to defend their T20 title this season, having dramatically snuck past favourites Nottinghamshire in the semi-final. India’s captain Virat Kohli has said that having a strong pool of “game-ready” players has set the scene for their T20 World Cup campaign in Australia later this year.India will be without seamers Deepak Chahar (injured), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (injured) and Mohammed Shami (rested) for their upcoming three-match T20I series at home against Sri Lanka, but they have able back-up options in Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur. In addition, their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is set to return to international action for the first time September 2019.On the batting front, they will be without the rested Rohit Sharma, but they still look in fine shape, with Shikhar Dhawan returning from injury to partner the in-form KL Rahul at the top of the order.”T20 is something we don’t have any problems in picking players,” Kohli said of India’s bench strength on the eve of the series opener in Guwahati. “Because you have the IPL. At a very competitive level, the guys have been performing season after season.”And all the players you see are probably the most important Indian players in their team in the IPL. So, from that point of view, it’s about figuring out which player can fit in at what time and what’s the strongest combination you can take to the World Cup.”And everyone’s game-ready, which is the most important thing and the biggest plus of having a squad like this with guys who have played a lot of T20 cricket, as I said, at a very competitive level.BCCI

I think it all boils down to who is batting [well] at that moment.  You want to go into a tournament with the strongest XI you can compile. Kohli believed that having all bases covered on the bowling front will benefit India on the larger grounds in Australia during the T20 World Cup.”Saini is a different case because he has come from the domestic set-up into the IPL and into the Indian team,” Kohli said. “So, he has bowled quite a bit and has good understanding of lines and lengths and he’s obviously got pace. Thakur, again, has played a lot of T20 cricket and has been playing the IPL for a while. And, he’s quite experienced in that regard.”Bhuvi, Bumrah, we really don’t have to discuss [about them]. Shami is again someone who will always stay in the mix. And Deepak Chahar has bowled really well for the number of games he has played.”Because the tournament is in Australia, you will need these many options and back-ups to be able to take firstly your strongest squad and have those back-ups in place who also can come in and do the job.”It’s good that we’ve identified five or six guys and it will be priority based on who goes and back-ups will be in place for fast bowlers. Small niggles can happen now and then, so we’re pretty sorted in that regard. So, not a worry at all.”India finished 2019 unbeaten in Tests, shed their conservative approach in T20Is, and were also on a roll in ODIs until New Zealand stopped them in their tracks in the 50-over World Cup semi-final. Another World Cup year has dawned, and Kohli set India’s focus towards the ICC tournament, challenging them to build on the gains from the past year.”We want to keep the standard as high as we can because it’s very important to understand that there’s a young influence that’s coming into the team now,” he said. And they need to be able to take the same culture and same mindset forward. Little transitions keep happening and we want to make sure that the guys who are coming in are on the same page and get up to speed as soon as possible.”We need to keep growing these younger guys into guys who will take the team forward. I think the main focus is on that and the ICC tournaments that are coming along, that’s something we are going to target.”

Wolves are one of several clubs looking to sign a Premier League-proven star on a free transfer this summer.

Wolves chasing European football

Wolves opted to replace Julen Lopetegui with former Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil in August 2023, and he has not disappointed during his short tenure with the Midlands-based outfit. After 31 games of the 2023/24 Premier League season, Wolves sit on 42 points and 11th in the table.

They remain in with a great chance of securing some form of European football for the forthcoming campaign – they are only six points off a Europa Conference League place with a game in hand on 7th-place West Ham.

A key reason for Wolves' success this campaign has been their clever spending. The Wanderers spent £80m on players during the last two transfer windows, including roughly £40m on Matheus Cunha, who has been their star man this term, chipping in with 11 goals and seven assists.

But if Wolves are to take their game to the next level, they will need to continue adding high-quality stars to their squad. Unlike some of the teams above them in the table, they are not flush with cash, and they need to be very smart about how and who they spend their money on.

One way Wolves can bolster their squad without spending too much money is through the free-agent market, with Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi among the players whose contracts are set to expire this summer.

Wolves ready to battle for £75,000-a-week Ndidi

According to a report from HITC, Wolves are one of several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi is a proven Premier League talent, having notched 192 appearances in the competition with the Foxes. He also played a key role in Leicester clinching an FA Cup and Community Shield, with former manager Brendan Rodgers labelling Ndidi as an 'incredible player': "He is an incredible player. The offensive players get the credit but he does the dirty work.

"He has this brain for the game, where he can smell danger and always finds himself there. The timing of his challenge is very good and he's up there with the top players at winning the ball back When you play a pressing game you need someone like Wilf. His passing is good too, he's always smiling."

But while the 27-year-old would no doubt make a fine addition to Wolves' midfield, there are a couple of factors that may prevent O'Neil and Co landing Ndidi this summer.

Firstly, the report from HITC names all of Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton as clubs who are also interested in signing the Nigerian. At least one of Tottenham and Aston Villa are expected to secure Champions League football for the 2024/25 season, which may prove a key negotiating factor when Ndidi's contract comes up in the summer.

Secondly, Ndidi currently earns £75,000-a-week with Leicester and would likely expect a pay rise from his next club. Wolves, meanwhile, currently have just two players on their books earning more than £75,000-a-week in Pablo Sarabia and Nelson Semedo (£90k and £80k).

This means Wolves would likely have to break their current salary cap to land the midfielder. Should they do so, Ndidi would no doubt improve their midfield department, but at a hefty cost despite the lack of an initial transfer fee.
